actually i have been reading a lot but not just updating, i think...
So as usual i was scourging my collection to re-read one of them, only to get my hands on "The Love story" again (it wasn't intentional, i promise... ok may be not) if u are my friend, may be you know how i love this book... Erich Segal had been a great blessing to this world, literally...
the book is pretty slow and deals with story straight out of a typical bollywood movie... we have the rich-unspoilt(rolls her eyes)-football-jock falling for a go-lucky-not-so-rich-art-student.... the story moves on with the rich parents disapproving the pair and disinheriting our hero... he promptly disowns them too and marries our darling girl.... its a regular story with our girl falling seriously sick, alright...
but what really hooks on you onto this book is this: the jolly flow of the love between Oliver and Jennifer.... the warmth of the book lies in the dialogue between the characters... the pull is the unadulterated affection between Jenni's father and her....
And yes.. i cried, and i cry every time i finish the book.... its not because Oliver will be all alone...its not because Oliver had to leave his pride and ask his father for help... its not even because Jennifer dies.. But its the words that make me cry, every time....
And yes... Love means never to say sorry :-)

Saw the movie again recently. Both Ryan O'Neal and Ali MacGraw were pretty good. Lump in the throat when it ended. Had read the story earlier. Started Erich Segal with Acts of Faith, then Doctors, then The Class, then Oliver's story and at the last, the Love Story. I am a random reader however.
You were right on, there is something with the words in that novel, something that tugs at you.
Have a great time and keep it coming.
