wats d criteria for Booker Prize selection????

dunno why i bought this book... i have never, repeat, never liked any of the Booker award winners... Booker nominations -yes, but winners - no... yet i picked up this book... the summary was vague and i knew that i am gonna hate this book...

but lo behold... wat ever be my aversion towards Booker Winners, i just couldn't put this book down.. cant say i loved this book, but yeah its sort of page turner...

This is a story of Balram Halwai aka Munna.. and he transforms himself from a man from Darkness to a Start-up in Blore... Here by Darkness he means his own village...

We can sense the rejection, poverty, untouchability and every other feeling attached to below PL people... i come to have a Love-Hate relationship with Munna.... i like him for his dreams but i hate him for the way he chose to build his dream castle ultimately...

Note to Self: Never! and i mean Never pick a Booker prize winning novel ever again...

Although I have an aversion to Booker Prize winners myself (much due to my own unfortunate experiences than those of others :((), the same happened with me: I read a few pages of the book and found it pretty interesting. The satire is intricately woven even in its simple sentences.

I'm reading a Satyajit Ray book right now. Hopefully, if my impulse does not meddle in, TWT would be next.

Man..do i agree...people just love to show India as a squalor filled hellhole. And the character drawing is shitty too.

totally...but I personally like Danny Boyle's style...so full points on that front but he just had to choose Indian poverty as his subject..how else would he get critical acclaim?

and yeah one booker prize winner i like is Ian MacIwan
